RM of Dufferin Water Notice- Wards 3 & 4

Important Information about Your Water Supply
PRECAUTIONARY MAINTENANCE BOIL WATER ADVISORY NOTICE
The RM of Dufferin water system will be shutting off water service to some residents in Wards 3 & 4,
affected residents will be notified individually by the RM of Dufferin.
The outage will begin:
Tuesday June 19th between the hours of 9am – 3pm (estimated outage of 6 hours)
to complete upgrades to the rural distribution system.
This interruption to the water supply will lead to the loss of water pressure in the distribution system.
Distribution depressurization can compromise the safety of the water supply. All water users are asked to
follow boil water advisory precautions below once water service has been restored.
To avoid purchasing bottled water, and prior to the service interruption, water users can store tap water in
clean containers for drinking water purposes and should fill the bathtub for flushing water during the
outage.
Once water service resumes the RM of Dufferin will be flushing and testing the water. Water users may
experience a sputtering water flow, discolored or dirty water after the water service is restored. This is
normal and should resolve after a few minutes of running your tap. If it persists for longer than 5 minutes
after running the tap, contact 204-750-2652.
We anticipate water tests results by Friday, June 22, 1pm or sooner. Please check the website at
(carmanmanitoba.com) or call (204-745-2301) and unless otherwise notified, you can begin normal water
use after that time.
All water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before it is used for:
 Drinking and ice making
 Preparing beverages, such as infant formula
 Preparing food
 Brushing teeth
It is not necessary to boil tap water used for other household purposes, such as laundry or washing dishes.
Adults and older children that are able to avoid swallowing the water can wash, bathe, or shower. Young
children should be sponge bathed. If boiling is not feasible, an alternate and safe supply of water should
be used.
To avoid burn injuries from hot water, caution should be taken. Please keep young children away
from boiled water, and place kettles and pots away from counter and stove edges.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact: the R.M. of Dufferin Municipal Office at 204-745-
